Call for partners to implement the Global Action Programme on ESD in Sweden
By 1th of January 2016, SWEDESD will be mandated by the Swedish government to coordinate the national implementation of the UNESCO Global Action Programme on Education for Sustainable Development (GAP).
Initially, a pre-study is carried out to structure the work, enable
communication between partners, and spread information about
activities. SWEDESD call on all actors, organizations and
stakeholders within education and learning to submit interest in implementing GAP in Sweden by 22 January 2016.
UNESCO has published a new folderabout the Global Action Programme on ESD, including information about Partner Networks, Monitoring and Reviewing and Communication and Knowledge Management.
GAIA toolbox launched on multi-stakeholder collaboration and behavior change
CAPACITY BUILDING The results and resources presented on this platform derive from a three-year international program with the ambition to empower local authorities and non-state actors in four European cities into implementing training for sustainable development programs and Fair Trade campaigns.
The toolbox provides an overview of GAIA actions, including publications and lessons learned. Within the program, SWEDESD has contributed with facilitation, process design and action research.
'Stories of Change' Mainstreaming environment and sustainability in African universities
PUBLICATIONA new book has been published by MESA, one of UNEP’s initiatives with universities to support education for sustainable development. It is written by 50 academics from countries across the continent, sharing the effort to transform education in Africa.
‘After sustainability – what?’ Global Discourse Special Issue
RESEARCH This special issue of
Global Discourse will explore a range of questions in
relation to the 'sustainability' paradigm in policy and
mainstream political discourse. Abstracts should be submitted
by 1 January 2016 and articles by 1 May
2016. Publication in early 2017.
Getting Started with the Sustainable Development Goals - A Guide for Stakeholders
GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT The Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) has published a guideon how to get started with implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
It aims to help national and local
governments, businesses, academia and civil society understand the 2030
Agenda, start an inclusive dialogue on implementation, and prepare
SDG-based national development strategies.
CONFERENCE Registration is now open for the Climate Existence Conference 2016 6-8 April in Sigtuna, Sweden. The event, which is hosted by the Sigtuna Foundation and CEMUS at Uppsala University, will be an exploration of the interface between academia and art, focusing on how we talk and think about our role as humans in an era of climate change and ecological unravelling.
